Sick Baby, Sick Mommy - What's going on?

Well as is often necessary I was off on a weekend business trip when I received a distressed call from Sarah. Gabe was on his way to urgent care with what Sarah thought was a rash. A blood test, two separate labs, and about four hours later Gabe was admitted to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center with an extremely low platelet count. Apparently instead of reacting to a virus going around by just throwing up and getting a fever Gabe's body decided to kill off his platelets in the process leaving him extremely vulnerable to internal bleeding.

Here we are two days later and Gabe is still in the hospital, but we are hoping that tomorrow's blood test will reveal that he is getting better and we can go home. Sarah handled the whole thing like a pro, while I franticly tried calling every airline to see if I could get on any flights home. I made it home just in time for Sarah to catch the same virus (unluckily) but her body decided to fight it off the normal way - through throwing up and fever (lucky...or unlucky...either way it stinks for her). So I have taken the week off and am trying to take care of my babies. We just hope no one else gets it.
